About the poets:

Mermer Blakeslee
lives three lives as a writer, gardener, and skier. Her second novel, In Dark Water, was a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection and an excerpt from her most recent novel, When You Live by a River, won the Narrative Prize. Drawing on her work with fearful ski students, she wrote the non-fiction A Conversation with Fear. Her roots are in poetry and her current project circles back to a hybrid of that form. She was born, raised, and still lives in New York's Catskill Mountains.

Dorianne Laux – Pulitzer Prize finalist Dorianne Laux's most recent collection is Only As The Day Is Long: New and Selected, W.W. Norton. She is also author of The Book of Men, winner of the Paterson Poetry Prize, and Facts about the Moon, winner of the Oregon Book Award.  Two new books are forthcoming: Finger Exercises for Poets, and a volume of poems, Life on Earth, both from W.W. Norton. Laux is founding faculty at Pacific University and a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets.

Nynke Salverda Passi
was born and raised in the Netherlands. She's been published in Calyx, Gulf Coast, Poetry Breakfast, Red River Review, and the anthologies River of Earth and Sky and Carrying the Branch: Poets in Search of Peace, and Conestoga Zen among other places. She is founder and director of the mentor-based, online MFA in Creative Writing at MIU in Fairfield, Iowa and the Soul Bone Literary Festival. Her favorite place to write is with a cat on her lap and a view of Louden pond, where Canada geese pass twice every year to share their gossip and stories.
