English Dept. News: Mel McCuin’s Class is presenting on Thursday, April 27, at the Wege Center for the Arts from 7 - 9 PM CT.

Poet Ellen Bass and novelist and memoirist Mark Spragg will team up for a reading during our upcoming festival. The two are good friends and tremendously look forward to the event. GO TO SOUL BONE FALL ‘22.

We are so excited to have a presentation during our residency and festival by Two Sylvias Press, one of our favorite literary presses. Kelli Russell Agodon will be presenting.

During our Fall ‘22 Soul Bone Festival, we will again host a reading of We Are Mean to Rise: Voices of Justice from Minneapolis to the World, edited by Carolyn Holbrook and David Mura.

On the evening of Sat., Aug. 27th, we’ll be joined by Lynne Thompson, LA Poet Laureate, and poet Nathan McClain, who will be reading from their work.

On Wed., Aug. 24th, we’ll have an anthology reading of The Path to Kindness: Poems of Connection & Joy, edited by James Crews and Danusha Laméris.

Poet Carolyn Holbrook will join us for several events during our upcoming residency: a master class on Writing about Trauma, a class on Telling Your Truth, a reading from her memoir, and an anthology reading from We Are Meant to Rise, which she edited together with David Mura.

On Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, Laure-Anne Bosselaar will be joining us for a reading together with Nickole Brown and Jessica Jacobs. Laure-Anne will also be teaching a workshop on choice of pronouns on the afternoon of Aug. 24.

Sara Henning will be with us again during our Fall ‘22 residency. She will read from her new book of poetry, Terra Incognita. Divided into four sections, this poignant collection begins with “Terra Inferna,” which chronicles a single mother’s attempt to raise her daughter in 1980s rural Georgia.
